iPod Touch 2G Rocks
This is a great product! I was undecided for months until Apple’s price drop clinched the deal.

It combines the best music player with a personal organizer, WiFi information center, GPS based directions and it looks great!

I wish there was a more reasonably priced Toslink, or digital coaxial docking station that connects to home theater systems. The few I’ve seen run from $100-$300. $100 isn’t bad for Apple’s AirPort, but reviewers say it doesn’t work with protected Windows/PC networks. So, I’m using MonsterCable’s stereo adapter for now.

the Touch is limited when out of wi-fi range
A lot of the features I was hoping to use do not work when on the go and not in wi-fi range - which is whenever I am walking, bicycling, driving, or riding public transportation.

I used the Maps app to load my starting address and destination. Everything looked great. But once I got in the car, I could no longer zoom, or pan, or view detailed maps along the route - not all that useful. I might as well have used Google Maps on my home computer and printed the route. Since I have lots of Touch memory, I don’t know why the Touch Maps app couldn’t find a way to cache detailed snapshots along the route currently in use.

I was counting on using my new iPod Touch for calendar alerts when I am on the go. I have Windows Vista, but I am not a corporate user and I am not about to buy something expensive like Outlook when Google gMail and Calendar already meet my needs. I exported my Google calendars to .ics files and then imported them into the free Windows Mail that comes with Vista, but iTunes refuses to recognize Windows Mail. It will only recognize Outlook, and there is NO free Outlook version for Vista - Only Windows Mail.

It looks like I would have to go to an Android phone to get the maps or calendar support I am looking for.

He hasn’t put it down
I bought the IPOD Touch as a birthday gift for my husband and he hasn’t put it down! He has even started checking his email more often so that he can use it.

When he found out that i had ordered it, at first he was unimpressed with the price. Once he got his hands on it, he immediately loaded all of his music and several applications that he downloaded. He is able to surf via our wireless internet while our son is on the other computer.

A great gift for those gadget guys and gals.
